Settling In…

Wow, September is here! The time has just zipped by.

I am slowly getting things done. This week car issues topped the list. I took in the beast to get the tires checked (I have been losing air in one tire), get an oil change and an overall look-see. The drive over to Orange city (where the Subaru dealership is) was stunning. It was just so beautiful with tree tunnels, Colonial estates and beautiful expanses of farms along the way. Mix this in with perfect blue skies with puffy white clouds. I got to see Orange City which I have been looking at houses online. It is a cute working-class town in a hilly forested area. Unfortunately, they have no cell service. It is a cute town, but the cell thing is just a no go. It is still a bit out from any large city too.

The nav system took me a different route on the way home. I got to go through Gordonsville, which I have been looking at homes there also. What a great little town! It is colonial with cute shops, little bistros, art galleries and brick paved streets. It is small, but really cute and eclectic. I would like to live here. I haven’t seen many homes available there though. Now I know why. We will see…..It is still about 45 minutes from Charlottesville, but the cute town makes up for that.

I drove home and parked without looking at my car and in the morning I noticed this scrape. The bummer is I didn’t do a walk around at the dealership. I just assumed if anyone did anything they would say something. So, now I am having to deal with the dealership and see if they are going to do the right thing and fix this. I am sure the other white car they scraped is having the same conversation.

UPDATE....Took all week, but the manager at the Subaru dealership called and explained that he looked at the video and the scrape was there before video was taken. I am thinking they could have moved it and then video’d it but will take his word for this. He offered to try and buff out the scratches on the car. I took him up on this and hopefully they will contact me to set this up. Bummer that! This was not there before I left…..

Autumn is on the Way

I felt a hint of change in the weather yesterday. I also saw some leaves that are starting to change color or have changed. This morning it is actually cool enough for a light sweat shirt. I think the appearance of the fireflies marked the changing of the seasons. I can’t wait to get my gear out and start taking some pictures. Time to start exploring….

Sausage and peppers for dinner tonight!

Those orange tomatoes are yummy. The only store in town has very poor produce and I am looking for an organic farmer’s market. Someone told me there is one somewhere around here. I was in the True Value Hardware store and saw they had a whole farmer’s produce section. I will have to check that out. The veggies looked awesome there. Kind of an odd place for organic produce, but OK.

FIREFLIES!!!!

I actually caught some of those amazing little light generators. It is hard because they are only out for an extremely short period between dusk and dark. The video is from my phone and I haven’t looked into how to get better video, and it is dark so the resolution sucks, but you’ll see the little buggers lighting up. :-). Stick with the video..it does get better.

It is Labor Day this weekend and I plan on going into the town of Louisa and getting some pictures of the town and goings on……

I went into town on Saturday and no one was there?

ODD!

I did get some pictures of the downtown. Not a lot going on down there, but there are a couple of interesting things. Driving around I always see these boxes where people are taking out books. This is such a great idea. I guess these serve as the public library…

I tried to get into Floozies (Yes, you heard right…) Restaurant, but it seems it only has very limited hours. It is only open in the mornings for a few hours three days during the week and after hours for a short while on Fridays. There is a sign that they have homemade pies there…..I was drawn!

The town proper is really about two blocks with city offices on one side of the street and shops on the other. All the shops seem to have limited or call ahead hours. The only thing that was open was the Bar-B-Que restaurant, which looked good. I will have to check that out soon. It is cute, but quiet most of the time. I am sure there are other things here I haven’t discovered yet. I did see an organic veggie shop I will try and get to this week.

It is Sunday so I will check out here. I hope to get more exploring done next week. I have a long list of things I need to do next week, so I may not have much fun stuff to see…..
