I want to start off with the dinosaur flying raptor that was slapping around my outside camera….
My running route keeps changing and turning….

More fall colors…..

I found some holly on my walk, it is just this lone bush in the forest. Makes one wonder how it got there.

Everywhere is a postcard view. I am enjoying driving around the backroads and exploring some of the area. Here are couple of pictures of the homestead……
You may notice that I trimmed up the second tulip tree and hedged the front. It still needs a bit of work, but getting better. Unfortunately, I need to mow again. I was hoping to get by with the gas in there, but I will need a bit more to finish up. I am thinking that I will have to mow at least one or two more times. The grass just keeps growing….

Still working on getting back into shape….I fear it is a lifetime project. lol
Since the weather has dipped to the 20’s and 30’s in the mornings, the Shed-gym has been a bit brisk!
While driving around the backroads thinking about how it will be icy roads soon, I came upon this Civil War tavern. It was interesting and in quite good shape. It was closed, of course, as it was Sunday evening. It is off the beaten track (what isn’t here?) So, I did a little video. I didn’t have my camera so I took out a couple of stills that give a little more information about the place. It is quite big with a guest house in the back and a large stable and barn. It must have been a hot place to hang out back in the day.
Evidently, the tavern was rebuilt and donated. That is why it looks in such good shape. It would have been nice to see the inside.

It seems General Robert E. Lee sent General Wade Hampton to hang out at the tavern, gather his troops and chase General Ulysses S. Grant who had pushed on into Charlottesville after destroying the central Virginia railroad.
Check out the beard! They loved creative bearding in those days.
The week ended off by Circe trying to kill me multiple times. She tried to drag me in front of a car on our walk, Later, the next day, she jumped outside the door catching her leash on the door which slammed into my head. I had a bump/knot the size of one of those acorns for a day. Oh, and a real good looking shiner on my left eye.
