Springtime in Virginia

Wow, I simply cannot believe that we are in April!!! Spring is here and everything is starting to bloom. Charlottesville is just bursting with color from all the dogwoods, cherry blossoms and various blooming plants and flowers. I will be starting to take pictures of all this and hopefully get some of the amazing color of springtime in here.

A couple of plants budding out on my run path.

I purchased some calming hemp treats for Circe and I believe she is getting a buzz on with these treats. For one, she gets excited to have these and then starts acting a bit off….Like how, you say….?

I have this bug throw rug. I thought it was cool as there are a wide variety of bugs I have to keep throwing out of my home. I haven’t a clue what some of them are. Anyway, Circe likes to play with and eat the bugs. After a couple of hemp treats I noticed her clawing at the rug. She thought the painted bugs were real bugs….HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It was funny. I wish I caught it on video, but alas, I did not.

I know, you are thinking this is an odd theme for a rug, but it does look cool. It happens to fit my sense of irony right now too. Since I have moved in here, I have a daily siege of these weird beetles. I haven’t found how they are getting in, but they keep appearing every day. Also, centipedes—Circe loves to play with these and some strange looking flying thing that keeps slamming me in the head when I am not looking.

Forest!!!!

There is a crazy rabbit running around. Since this is not rabbit country, I am assuming it is someone’s pet gone rogue. I periodically see it on the cameras running at top speed from something in the woods. I also see it hopping about in the front at which time Circe takes off and tries to drag me around the yard. At least till I get my feet under me. 😉

Waskiley Wabbit

Then there is the kitty who likes to taunt Circe by staring into the door. My door has a see-through area that is frosted and the cat digs teasing Circe by just sitting there and staring at her. This is a nightly event right now.

Crazy Kittie

So the lake is buzzing with boaters and people looking to hang out by the water. It is going to be crazy when summer is in full swing. My neighbors have started hanging outside around a fire pit late into the evening. I went from isolated to bustling neighborhood. I have met many of my neighbors. The ones that are here right now. I know the people from three sides and will probably have met the fourth side by next post. People like to walk around and mill about out here.

The guy behind me is so nice and he has chickens, which means fresh eggs! He sells them for $4 a dozen. Pretty good price right now since the store charges around $6. However, I cannot be my usual reckless driving self as his chickens are always crossing or standing in the road. One chicken is dauntless and just stands in front of my car and stares for the longest time. It finally slowly saunters off, but it is flirting with a death wish there. I have had words with this chicken, but she feels it is her road. LOL This is a gang of chickens, BTW. The chicken owner doesn’t seem disturbed by this behavior, so they must be used to getting back home on their own.

The chicken guy (I cannot remember his name…..my usual story. I will have to make an effort to ask him next time.) is super nice and has a dog named Mabeline. I always think of the Little Richard song when I see here. She looks like a cross between a beagle and a pointer. Mabeline is just the sweetest thing.

I joined a gym and am very happy with the oodles equipment available. It is 37 minutes away, but in a very cute town. So, I celebrated and got a cheap pair of “Guardians of the Galaxy” headphones.

Summer means thunderstorms and warm nourishing rain making everything green. I love summer storms even though they are drenching is you have to be out in them. Normally, they don’t last that long. Of course, the window rattling thunder has been a new experience for Circe. Needless to say, she is not that thrilled about it 🙂

Summer Rainstorm

Summer also means…..FIRE ANTS!!! Ugh! I hate fire ants. I need to find some organic way to deal with them.

Next post I should have some videos of Culpepper and Fredericksburg for. you. Also, there will me more interesting and compelling content. I leave you with a pud pic. Circe got a new chicken and hopefully this will last much longer than the squirrel.
