Early Days…..

I love this picture of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. I spent the last hour trying to find out the artist, but alas, I haven’t found it. I will keep looking and update this post when I eventually find the artist name. If you know it, please put in the comment section, thanks.

I also like Pablo’s version, which I have in T-shirt form.
I enjoyed reading the book. I actually took the Yale course which had books about Spain at the time and lots about the picaresque novel. Cervantes was quite the popular author of the time. And, an interesting guy to boot. I choose this theme as I feel like I am tilting at windmills myself lately. A bit out of touch with the natural world, but still on my own journey.
August was just a crap month. It is good I do not have any post for August. It is a good remembrance that I don’t want to remember. I just can’t accomplish anything. I do things to move forward, but each move seems to take me back a step. It is so frustrating. So, a bit of winging here, but it serves as good an explanation of the missing month. I am hopeful that I will retain some of my sanity this month. I haven’t moved from square one since I moved here 13 months ago and don’t feel very positive about this month either.

I have learned a couple of new and useful things. One, turning up the radio volume in your car and screaming does help reduce some stress. So, no, I am not singing a loud rock tune…I am doing scream-therapy. LOL I am hoping that people think I am singing when they pass me…..???! Two, binge eating chicken wings and mozzarella sticks to relieve depression doesn’t work. You just feel like a blow fish after. All that salt!

Time Wasters
In the interim, I have been painting watercolor botanicals. It has become quite the obsession. It does make me feel a little more sane. My photo gear is packed and I have been jonesing on creative expression. These are 5×7 inches. Keep in mind I am not a painter, just a dabbler. I actually started these to send to my sister. I thought she could frame and put in her kitchen. She informed me that in Israel they donβt put things on the wall as they are typically cement and bit more difficult to hammer nails into themβ¦.π³ So now I just keep creating an ever growing stack of these botanicals. I guess how big the pile gets is an indicator of how stressed I have been. Watercolor is wonderful though, something about how fragile it is, like my soul. It also takes layers to build an image, much like our layered personalities. I see why they use painting as therapy in mental institutions. It does make one more reflective. It is a good medium for the mentally ill. I mean really, look how many crazy painters there have been…!

I am in progress on some moreβ¦..

Circe’s Corner
Circe is doing surprisingly good. She seems happy enough. She does need her own yard and place for long walks, but we are managing for now. She hates technology and swats at the computer whenever I am on it. Mostly because I end up getting upset when my neighbor hacks my WiFi and steals my bandwidth…π€¬ She is a plump little sausage now weighing in at 100 lbs and growing. She doesn’t look it though. The vet always says “Really!?” when she gets on the scale. We always have to weigh her a couple of times. Obviously, Circe is not getting as much exercise as she needs. We do play bone and chase each other in the house…That gets dicey sometimes as 100 lb pit running at speed and lunging at you in the hall can create bruising….. She is afraid of the bathroom and will not enter one. She has somewhat conquered her fear of linoleum, but still will hang on the edge of the carpet unless a treat is involved. She has recently decided to boycott puppy food. She wants only treats and will starve herself to get one. We had a standoff the other day and she finally ate her dinner at 10 pm. She then promptly came looking for me to get her treat…..π
As for her habits…..I believe she has cat tendencies. She has a special place to do her business in the yard. She has to circle multiple times start, then change her mind, circle some more and then settle in on getting it done. Those with cats will understand cat-box attitudes. She loves to chase bugs, geckos and basically anything running. She swats at her boneless rabbit toy just like a cat. We are all confused in this house….lol But, she is an angel in all things sweet and loving.

Mostly just wingin’ and time wasting on this post, but I wanted to jump back into the world. Hopefully, I will get another post out this month. I am going to another city on my list. I will have more pictures of Virginia next time. It is fall now and all the beautiful colors should start to emerge.
Be well….
