Update ๐ท
I can’t believe it is almost a year since I moved in!!!
So, it has been a long and short year. I have had to fix so many things and getting contractors up here is a challenge. I have accomplished some things and have to put off others till next year. However, I am moving forward. I am tired of painting, caulking and fixing things though. I am loving my new home most of the time now. I still have those days where she beats me down, but I am gaining ground.

Next year, I plan to get back to creating art and exploring the area. I will still be working on the old homestead, but I will start splitting my time. As much as work allows. It is so beautiful here and the mountain is just a different world. It does heal the soul and blend you into nature.
Goings on….
I have met some interesting local characters. RT the mountain man who I paid to mow my lawn and he came with a weed wicker, thermos and clock. Seems he thought it was a government job and should have breaks, healthcare and benefits. Needless to say, I am mowing my own lawn now….๐

I am on a deer path so there are a lot of deer wandering about. Not only from me, but from passing drivers stopping to check out the deer.
Met a new kitty friend on my morning run, got chased by an angry pack of chickens and froze my toes trying to run on snow…..

Started a new addiction ….. Watching the sunset every night. Seems it is a thing here. When I lived in Florida, we would all go outside and watch the sunset. You were just drawn, it was like an unconscious group event. It just happens when you are presented which such spectacular beauty. If fills something in everyone.

I enjoyed summertime drinks, wine while cooking and started baking again. I will have to add on an extra mile or two to make up for the baked goodies. I learned that cooking at high altitudes is different than the flats. I made gumbo, minestrone soup and a full Thanksgiving dinner which I shared with my neighbor. I played around with juicing. Actually, I made one and realized it is WAY too much prep, clean up and waste products. I decided a blender is enough for me. I am a kind of throw-it-in kinda gal, I found. I dug out my expresso maker and enjoyed frothing up a warm cappuccino to have with my chocolate. โบ๏ธ๐ซโ๏ธ to cap off my days.

I have enjoyed the raw beauty of winter here on the mountain and I FINALLY got my snow. I have complained since I moved to Virgina that I have not seen any snow. I have now…..โ๏ธ

Spring was long in coming, but beautiful as you would expect. The mountain in full bloom is a thing to see. I plan on capturing it using my pinhole camera next spring.

Fall, just always overwhelming in her fiery exuberance…..๐

And now we are back at winter again…..
๐ฆฎ Circe’s Corner… ๐ฆด
Circe is learning new skills. She has started pruning the bushes.
She has learned bird speak and often twitters while pruning….
Daily exercise is important for a pup’s figure. Hopping is Circes go-to routine…๐
In general, she has a busy life hunting all the critters in the yard, gardening, surveying her domain and general daily duties. She does get her down time to rest and renew….

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR
Wishing everyone the happiest of Christmases and healthy and prosperous New Year.
