Taking over….
The first year here there was almost no life at all creeping about. I saw a few cats and lots of deer. The deer population here is quite large. The locals in my neighborhood see them as their pets. That goes for me also. I see them as pets I don’t have to feed….lol.

ð Pets You Don’t have to Feed ðĶ
The deer here are prolific as most of the big predators (other than man) have been removed. The locals do love their deer and one of my neighbors, two elderly ladies, go driving around to look at the deer. Currently, we have a big herd roaming about the area. This means you need to be careful when driving, but from the carcasses along the road, most aren’t.
There is a deer path on my property that goes over my ridge and drops down across the front lawn moving down across the road to the neighbors and the woods in the valley. I see the deer as pets I don’t have to feed…ð I enjoy watching the babies play and the big bucks wandering about.

ðĶĻ Then there is the Albino Skunk... ðĶĻ
Bet you didn’t think this was a thing…..ð
Of course, there are regular skunks also…. Seems there is an over abundance of skunks in my area. Strange as in my last home there was an abundance of skunks also. Interesting…….

Racoon Invasion….ðģ…. ðĶðĶðĶðĶðĶ……..
I didn’t see raccoons here until 2025. I am sure they were here, but uninterested in my property. I don’t keep garbage outside unless it is tightly closed.
This all started when I wanted to feed a baby deer hanging out behind my back wall. I would throw fresh corn cobs up there for her. Everyday, I would go and find it gone. I did this for about a week.
One morning on my garbage run I opened the garbage and found three raccoons in there. Surprise! I got them out and. cleaned the mess up, but they came every night after that. My cousin read somewhere that raccoons have good memories and can come back for years to a place where they found food. Great… ð
I no longer feed anything anywhere on my property……..not wanting to invite the local bears…..ðŧ
I love the twittering sound the babies make…. Momma would bring the babies and leave. I am thinking she went looking for food and thought this was a safe place for the kids. ð

ðĶŪ Puddies ðâðĶš ðĐ
When I first moved in there was this old great pyrenness that would creep up to my front door and sleep on the doormat. I felt for this guy, but Circe was not having anything to do with another dog. It was the neighbors dog. He would walk around the property scoping out the back and generally just hanging about. I would see him walking down the road in the mornings. Just broke my heart he was just wandering about. He eventually passed on.
I now see puddy buddies around and about late at night.

ðâ⎠Cats ð
There is the occasional kitty. I am surprised there are not more hanging about, but life is rough on the mountain with various predators that prey on cats. We do have coyotes, but I never catch them on camera. I do hear the lone howls, but haven’t seen any as of yet.
Most of the cats I see are only around for a short time. I like seeing them as there are mice everywhere here…..
